Transfer money

Transfer money from your brokerage account to an eligible linked account or request a check.

Step 1

Go to Benefits OnLine at the web address provided by Merrill or your employer. Please note, your screen may differ from the example shown.

Step 2

Any cash in your brokerage account can be transferred to an eligible U.S.-based linked account. To link an account, from the Home page go to Profile & Settings. Select Managed Linked Accounts from the dropdown and follow the prompts to enter your account information. If your account can be instantly verified, transfers can be made immediately. After your account is linked, follow the steps in this demo to transfer money.

Step 3

On the Home page, select the three dots or account options toggle next to your brokerage account name. From the Actions menu, choose Transfer money.

Step 4

On the Holdings page, select Transfer Money.

Step 5

Your linked accounts are displayed. To add a new account, select Managed Linked Accounts. If your transfer can’t be processed on Benefits OnLine, you’ll receive instructions to call Merrill for assistance. Select Continue to go to MyMerrill to enter your transfer instructions.

Step 6

From the Transfer Money page on the Transfers & Bill Pay tab, select Cash to transfer cash to an eligible linked account. To request a check, go to step 14 for instructions.

Step 7

In the From field, your brokerage account number and account balance are displayed. Note: If there are pending transactions, the full account balance may not currently be available for transfer.

Step 8

Your eligible linked account(s) are displayed in the To field. Select the dropdown arrow in the To field to choose your preferred account. NOTE: To add a new account, go to the Benefits OnLine Home page > Profiles and Settings > Manage Linked Accounts.

Step 9

In the Amount field, enter the dollar amount you wish to transfer.

Step 10

To request an immediate transfer, choose One time, immediately in the Frequency box.

Step 11

To transfer the money on a future date, select One time on… in the Frequency box. Then choose a date from the calendar.

Step 12

Check that your information is correct, then select Continue transfer. For security purposes, you’ll be prompted to enter your Benefits OnLine password.

Step 13

Review your information and select Submit transfer. You will receive a confirmation of your transfer.

Step 14

To request a check, select Checks. Your name and address will display in the Pay to section.

Step 15

Enter the dollar amount for the check in the Amount field. Select Continue. For security purposes, you’ll be prompted to enter your Benefits OnLine password.

Step 16

Review your instructions. Select Submit. Checks are generally processed in 3-5 business days.
