A credit score is a three-digit number that summarizes your credit history and indicates to lenders how likely you are to repay borrowed money.
After enrolling in My Credit, you can view your FICO® Score and credit report for free in our Mobile Banking app or Online Banking. Look for My Credit in the Main Menu or toward the bottom of your account details screen. You can also ask Erica®, your virtual financial assistant, “What’s my FICO® Score.”
FICO® Scores are categorized from a Poor rating up to an Exceptional rating. A score of 670 or higher is considered good. Scores of 700 and above are generally considered to be strong.
They are similar, but not the same. A FICO® Score is a specific credit-scoring model created by Fair Isaac Corporation. A credit score is a broader, more general term for any three-digit measure of creditworthiness.
Lenders use your FICO® Score to decide loan approvals, credit limits, and interest rates. Insurers, landlords, and some utility providers may also check it.
To help improve your FICO® credit score, focus on paying bills on time, keeping balances low on credit cards and other revolving debt, and avoiding too many new credit applications. Don’t close old accounts unnecessarily and check your credit reports regularly for errors. It is good to keep in mind that when it comes to earning and maintaining good credit, small, consistent actions make a big difference over time.
It usually updates monthly but can change more often if lenders report frequently. In My Credit, you can refresh your score up to three times every 30 days.
Your FICO® Score is calculated using five key factors: payment history, amounts owed, length of credit history, new credit, and credit mix. To better understand the factors impacting your FICO® Score, review FICO® Score Factors in My Credit.
My Credit shows your credit report, alerts you to changes, and flags suspicious activity. Tools like Score Simulator and Score Goal can help you plan improvements.
No. Checking your score is a “soft inquiry” and doesn’t affect it. Only “hard inquiries,” like applying for new credit, can lower your score.
FICO® Score Goals* in My Credit lets you set and work toward a Score Goal. Your current credit score data will be analyzed to provide recommendations for how you can reach your target score by your target date.
*FICO® Score Goals results are provided for informational purposes only and are intended to approximate the impact of various actions on your FICO® Score 8 — assuming all other factors stay the same. Your actual score, and the impact of any actions taken, results from a complex interaction of FICO's scoring methodologies and the information on your credit report, some of which changes daily. FICO® Score Goals doesn't consider information from accounts where you are reported. Credit score calculated based on FICO® Score models. Your lender or insurer may use a different FICO® Score, or another type of credit score altogether.
You’ll get alerts for changes to your credit report, like new applications, missed payments, or account updates. You’ll also receive a monthly summary and optional alerts for score changes and goals.
